I’m Charlene Apigian, a former music and social studies teacher in Redford Union Public Schools and the Manoogian School on the campus of St. John Armenian Church in Southfield, MI. I am a former host of HARC – The Heritage of Armenian Culture radio program.  I have an innate curiosity about people who accomplish remarkable and extraordinary things in their lives, especially Armenians perhaps because there are so few of us.  This was further developed by researching for and then writing scripts for HARC.  My producer Edmond Azadian showed me the way and for that I am grateful as it opened a new world to me.

I am very proud to be an Armenian but that isn’t enough.  To be proud one must also be informed.  Most of us cannot remember enough of Armenian history to impress or inform others.  However, persons of interest, or REMARKABLE ARMENIANS who have accomplished something with their lives – now that is something one can hang onto and share with others.

To be proud one must also be informed.

I have been working toward this goal with two friends, Gloria Korkoian and Doris Krikorian by producing posters about Armenian individuals and placing them in our local Armenian churches.  My son, Dr. Charles Apigian, an IT professor at Middle Tennessee State University (the tech guy!) suggested I could reach more people with a blog and here we are.
