Peter Balakian is a poet, professor, and one of the most important Armenian American writers in English today. Teaching at Colgate University since 1980, he grew up haunted by a family secret: in his mid-20s, he learned his grandmother had survived the Armenian Genocide. That discovery shaped his life's work — the memoir Black Dog of Fate, the bestseller The Burning Tigris, and the Pulitzer Prize–winning Ozone Journal — and his decades-long fight against genocide denial.

Born in Paris to parents who escaped the Armenian Genocide, Nina Garsoian traded a promising career as a classical pianist to unearth the centuries-deep roots of Armenian civilization. She built the Armenian Studies program at Columbia University, became a foremost authority on Armenian and Byzantine history, and received the Movses Khorenatsi Medal — one of Armenia's highest cultural awards.

A boxer-turned-pilot, he built aviation businesses before reshaping Las Vegas with landmark casinos including the MGM Grand. He saved MGM studios and donated over $1 billion to Armenia through his Lincy Foundation, while remaining remarkably private.
